TREKKING IN NEPAL
|
ITINERARY W03 – ANNAPURNA PANORAMAThis is a very famous and easy route. From Kathmandu you go 200 km. (125 miles) west either by bus or by plane to Nepal's second city, Pokhara. This route is suitable even for young children and elderly people. The route is not so high but there are great views of the mountains and of lovely valleys. The high point (in both senses) is the (optional) early morning climb from Ghorepani to the top of Poon Hill, from where there are marvellous views of the sun rising over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges (Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna 1,2, South and Hiunchuli, Lamjung, Manaslu...). This is also a top area for recruitment of gurkhas to the British and Indian Armies. Other local groups include Magar and Gurung. You have the opportunity to visit villages and schools, to talk with the children and teachers and to learn more about the local culture. We are looking forward to taking you there.
