BHOTE KOSHI RIVER
(“TIBETAN RIVER”)

GRADE 4-5+
2 DAYS

A real mountain river having grade 4-5+ rapids and deadly holes, Bhote Koshi offers the best two days' whitewater rafting in Nepal, if not in the world. It is the steepest rafting river in Nepal. The commencing point itself is the Tibet border. The dramatic views of Mount Everest, Lantang and so many other mountains will win your heart. If you are having only a short holiday but still want a high level of white water excitement, Bhote Koshi is the only river for you. This is the wildest, fastest and craziest river of Nepal.

Outward Travel Time: - 4 hours.

Return Travel Time: - 3 hours.

Starting Point: - Khandichaur

End Point: - Lamasangu Dam.

Day 1:
Drive from Kathmandu to Khandichaur, the starting point for the first day's rafting, enjoying the panoramic views from the road. After arrival our chef will prepare lunch and guides will prepare the rafts and kayaks – a helping hand from you will be necessary. Get ready to go and pay close attention to our guides' briefing and safety talk. Then it's off you go! On the first day there are only grade 3 rapids – this is a learning exercise because we are going to have a real adventure tomorrow.

Drive back to Baseri (further up from the starting point) where we camp in a tranquil spot. Enjoy the campfire and Nepali Ghorle singing and dancing with a glass of locally-made raksi (wine).

Day 2:
After breakfast, we encounter the challenge of the grade 5 rapids “Frog on the Blinder” and “Midnight Express” and numerous grade 4 rapids. Then you have to really let rip with the paddle because “Wall” and “Cave” are hissing towards us.

The scenery of the different mountains, the villages, forests and Nepali cultural life add an extra dimension.

Sadly, we have to stop paddling at the Lamasangu Dam and drive back to Kathmandu.

What a heart-stopping trip!
