KALI GANDAKI RIVER

GRADE 4-5
3 DAYS

The Kali Gandaki river is named after the Hindu Goddess Kali. The river rises in Mustang, an enclave of Nepal on the northern side of the Himalayas, and as it tumbles down it creates the world's deepest river gorge. You will find magnificent mountain views, villages, forests and wild life as well as seeing something of Nepal's ethnic culture; but the real highlights are the turbulent grade 3 and 4+ rapids which you encounter on this river.

Starting Point :- Nayapul

Ending Point:- Mirmi

Day 1:
We meet at our sales counter in Pokhara at 6.30 AM with your light packs and start driving to Baglung Nayapul (3 hrs. driving). Our chefs will prepare lunch and our guides prepare the rafts and kayaks. Your help will be appreciated as well at the camp.

Listen to our leaders' briefing about paddling and safety matters then get ready to paddle because the biggest rapid on this river (“Little Brother” – grade 4+) is just ahead. Immediately after it we will have another rapid of the same grade “Big Brother”. After that you can breathe a little easier till we reach our camp but still there are a large number of grade 3+ rapids. Beach the raft and fix camp at Maldhunga and enjoy the evening around the camp fire.

Day 2:
After a few minutes of rafting we encounter the grade 4 rapid “Morning Rapid” and paddle down to the next camp facing numerous rapids. The whole day you will enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains and of traditional country life. During the day you paddle through the deepest river gorge in the world. We camp at Moti Beni beach.

Day 3:
Wake up at 7 o'clock in the morning and our chef will prepare breakfast. After breakfast we will make our way to the ending point. After battling with numerous holes and caves we approach the dam at Mirmighat, the rafting put-off point. Lunch is served, the equipment packed and we drive back to Pokhara (4 hours of driving through the valley and steep hills).
