TREKKING IN NEPAL
|
ITINERARY E03 – MERA PEAKThis is a very exciting route and a really remote area. The trek starts from Lukla, a 35 minute flight from Kathmandu. The flight takes you close to the mountains and provides a great view. If the weather is good the scenery from the flight gives you a panorama of many ranges, including Everest, Manaslu and Gaurishankar. Once you leave Lukla there are not many villages and people. Just a very few tea shops. There is as yet no permanent settlement of this area, there are only seasonal visitors, so it is a very quiet place to relax and spend a vacation. Mera peak is one of the easiest peaks to climb in Nepal. We have so many peaks over 6000 metres, but this one is very easy. This is not climbing, this is a walking peak. You don't need any technical knowledge or abilility for climbing. When you reach the high camp, the view is really spectacular of Everest, Makalu and many other mountains. In this area you won't learn much about the people and their culture, but you can enjoy nature to the full. So get ready to go!
* Mera Peak has three summits: Centre 6468 m., 21,221 ft.; South 6062 m.,19,889 ft. and North 6345 m., 20,818 ft. Trekkers may choose to do one only, any two, or all three according to their ability and desires. Go to other Trek Itineraries: |
