TREKKING IN NEPAL
|
ITINERARY W04 – ANNAPURNA PILGRIMS' TREKThis trek leads north from Pokhara, Nepal's second largest city, but the most beautiful. This trek starts at 1250 m., 4100 ft., and goes on up to 3949 m., 12,956 ft., at its destination, Muktinath. In Nepali Muktinath means "place of salvation" and here in this beautiful and remote spot in the mountains you will find one of the most sacred temples in Nepal. Every year in September pilgrims come from all over Nepal and India, and even further afield, for the Yartung festival. This remarkable place is very close to Upper Mustang, where a special permit is needed for treks. The trek leads each day through the valley of the Kaligandaki river, and takes you to the famous hot spring at Tatopani and also to the world's deepest gorge. We are sure you will love this beautiful trek and look forward to your visit to this remarkable area.
